Terry Lightfoot with Melinda - “a unique combination on the Theatre and Function circuit”

Terry has a deserved reputation for presenting music of the highest standard and is one of the few jazz stars who has successfully bridged the gap between the jazz audience and the
mainstream public, as he continuously demonstrates in Britain and around the World.

Terry being one of the ‘elite’ British Bandleaders and a star of the traditional jazz boom of the1960s, has an enviable reputation as an entertainer and musician of international standing. To this day, he is one of the finest reed players and vocalists in his chosen field.

He has toured since 1955 to the present day, having performed many times at The Royal Albert Hall and The London Palladium and has toured with the greats, including Louis Armstrong and Kidd Ory. In those early days, Terry remembers a drummer ‘sitting in’ with the Band by the name of David Suchet (aka Poirot), a fact David later recalled on GMTV.

In 2000, along with his busy recording and touring commitments, Terry also led Acker Bilk’s Band whilst Acker recovered from throat surgery.

Terry’s recording career started in 1956 and he still records today, both in his own right and with Melinda. His recordings on Upbeat, Lake and Start records are broadcast to this day by Michael Parkinson, Brian Matthew, Desmond Carrington and Humphrey Lyttleton.

In 2004, Terry topped the bill of the VIP’s of Jazz UK Tour and in 2005 at the Whitehall Palace, he teamed up with Johnny Dankworth, Don Lusher and Kenny Ball as The Legends of Jazz, to celebrate the 80th Birthday of Lord Rix. The event was compared by Michael Parkinson.
